How to play
There's one secret word each day, the same for everyone. Ask yes-or-no questions to collect clues, then guess the word.
The basics
- Ask a question like "Is it food?" or "Can you hold it in one hand?"
- You get one of five answers.
- When you think you know it, make a guess: "Is it an apple?" If you're right, you win.
You can ask up to 20 questions. A wrong guess counts as a question too. The fewer questions you need, the better.
Tips
Start broad
Use your first few questions to find out whether it's food, a living thing, a person, a place or an object.
Plants count as living things too. Ask "Is it an animal?" to tell animals and plants apart.
Narrow it down
Ask where you'd find it, who uses it and when it's used.
Go from general to specific
If "Is it a vehicle?" gets a "Yes", narrow it down within vehicles.
"Neither" is a clue too
You get it when the answer is half and half, when it depends, or when the question doesn't fit the word.
The five answers
A circle means yes, a cross means no and a triangle means neither. A dotted circle or cross means probably.
- YesClearly true
- Probably yesMostly true
- NeitherHalf and half, it depends, or the question doesn't fit
- Probably notMostly not true
- NoClearly not true
Questions we can't answer
- Questions about spelling, letters, pronunciation or the number of letters
- Questions that can't be answered with yes or no, such as "What color is it?"
These don't count toward your questions.
About the answers
An AI gives the answers. Everyone gets the same answer to the same question about the same word, but once in a while an answer may be wrong.
